May 2024

1 May

Ciao a tutti and Howdy Ags!

May is well underway, and the summer tourist season is heating up. April was another wet month with just under 1.5 inches of rain and an average temperature at our home in Tuscany of 57 degrees for the month.  We hope the rain will slow down for a while to allow for bud break on our olive trees and for ample pollination. I now understand why farmers are always watching the weather.

In this month’s e-newsletter, you’ll find:

Featured Articles: We take a closer look at the Vatican Swiss Guard. Learn about Stumble Stones or Pietra D’Inciampo and how these humble reminders are there so we do not forget history. A few wine suggestions are sprinkled throughout along with five (5) differences between Italian gelato and American ice cream. Either way they are both delicious.

Travel Spotlight: Take a close look at Puglia, Italy’s southern charm.

Recipes: We have two new recipes this month. Both are packed with flavor and not to be missed. The first is Burro Italiano, a spice dip to pair with olive oil for a captivating and addictive bread dip.  Plus, a wonderful recipe for the traditional Roman dish Cacio e Pepe.  Simple, easy to make and it takes just a few ingredients.
